Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park is located in northern Botswana. The park is the third largest in the country in size, about 11,700 km² in area, and the most versatile. The national park is also the country’s first national park. Chobe is known for its large elephant herds, with about 50,000 elephants, making Botswana the country with the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. Chobe also has 4 of the Big 5. The National Park’s various ecosystems and, to a large extent, the Chobe River – which runs through the north-eastern part – help to create the varied nature that exists in the area.

Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta, located in northern Botswana. The delta once ended in the Makgadikgadi lake, which had been drying up for several thousand years. The Okavango River, Africa’s fourth largest river, now flows into the Kalahari Desert, irrigating a 15,000 km² area of swamps. Okavango is a unique ecosystem that is classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The area is considered one of the world’s most famous wilderness destinations. The pristine wilderness and well working ecosystems of the Okavango Delta results in the greenery and a rich wildlife all year round. In the Okavango Delta you can spot the Big 5.

Moremi Game Reserve

The Moremi Game reserve is located in the northeastern part of the Okavango Delta and covers 40 % of the delta. Moremi Game Reseve was formed in 1963 and is approx 5000 km² (390,000 hectares), which includes thousands of large islands as well as lagoons and swamps. The Moremi Game Reserve, considered one of the most beautiful, is the only officially declared game reserve in the Okavango Delta. Moremi is home to about 500 bird species and a large number of wildlife including buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, African wild dog etc.

“It’s hard to imagine a place with more charm, extremely friendly and serviceminded staff (we have met a lot of nice people throughout the trip but the staff at Ngoma were in a class of their own), the most spectacular views, fantastic food and high quality accommodation. In addition, with an extremely professional guide (however, we only had one of several) and that the price included not only “local” wines but really good South African wines and premium brands of spirits. At the game drives we participated in (three by jeep and one by boat), we saw hundreds of elephants, antelopes, buffaloes and many giraffes, zebras, chobe chickens, hippos, crocodiles, a hyena – and three lions… the closest we got was perhaps 4 m away. Wow. A wonderful memory.”
