Regarding sunbathing beaches in South Africa, it is worth mentioning that in the Western Cape province are some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, however, the water temperature in this area is rarely above 17 degrees (the Atlantic). To achieve a warmer Ocean temperature, it is recommended to travel north along the coast and the Indian Ocean.

Cape Town
It is easy to fall in love with South Africa’s best known town, Cape Town, with its grand nature, beautiful coastline, white beaches and cloud covered mountains. Cape Town is the mecca of attractions which offers a large variation of fantastic experiences – something which suites all family members! Experience Table Mountain, Green Point, Waterkant, Waterfront, Kirstenbosch botanical Garden and the Two Oceans Aquarium, to name a few of the exciting family destinations and activities.
Franschhoek
Franschhoek is situated in one of the world’s most beautiful wine valleys. For more than 300 years ago the French Huguenots settled in Franschhoek region and brought their winemaking and food knowledge wich today has resulted in South Africa’s gastronomic capital. It was only when the French Huguenots arrived in South Africa, that the wine culture took off and with their knowledge they laid the foundation for today’s South African wine industry. In and around the picturesque town you will find some of the absolute best located vineyards in South Africa, many of which are child friendly.
Hermanus
Hermanus is situated in the unique and attractive area of Walker Bay which is surrounded by ocean, mountains, and miles of white beaches. Hermanus with its breathtaking nature and famous cliff paths is known as the best land-based whale whatching spot in the world. Take a scenic walk along the cliff paths and spot the whales, enjoy the most beautiful beaches in the world, including the 21 km long, Gotto Beach. Take part in an organized fishing tour or join a boat tour and catch your own crayfish. Visit Cape Aghulas, Africa’s southern most point where two of the world’s oceans, The Indian ocean and the Atlantic, meet.
Garden Route
There are many exciting experiences along the Garden Route, the beautiful coastline from Heidelberg in the west to Storms River Mouth in the east, from the Indian Ocean in south to the top of the mountain Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma in the north. Garden Route is one of the most popular destinations in South Africa and along the route there is much to experience such as beautiful nature, lots of exciting children’s activities, beautiful endless white beaches, hiking trails etc. Tsitsikamma National Park is considered one of the country’s top wilderness areas and is pure heaven for guests who enjoys the outdoors, stunning marine life and adventure filled vacation.
Safari at Greater Kruger NP
Enjoy the most exciting safari at Greater Kruger National Park, located in the provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo in northeastern South Africa. Kruger National Park is the largest national park in South Africa and one of the world’s richest in animals. Adjacent to the national park – sharing the same bush and wildlife – are many private game reserves and together this area forms the “Greater Kruger National Park”. Greater Kruger National Park includes the private game reserves; Sabi Sand, Timbavati, Makuya, Letaba, Balule, Klaserie, Umbabat, Manyeleti. In Greater Kruger there is a big chance to spot the Big 5 but is of course dependent on the season as well as skilled guides and trackers. There are many family- and child friendly safarilodges in the area.
Safari in Eastern Cape
Experience a family friendly safari in Kariega Game Reserve. Kariega is a family-owned and operated private game reserve in South Africa stretching across 10,000 hectares of pristine wilderness in the Eastern Cape. The Reserve is situated along the famous Garden Route, making it the perfect Big 5-South African safari destination to compliment a Cape Town visit and a trip along the country’s beautiful coast. This malaria-free South African game park is home to some of the richest biodiversity in Southern Africa, as well as two abundant rivers – the picturesque Kariega and Bushman’s Rivers.
